Mother’s Day is more than flowers, cards, and social media posts. It’s a reminder to honor the woman who gave so much of herself so that I could live a better life than she did.
My mom has always been the heart of our family. She carries strength in ways people don’t always see. She sacrificed so much for the good of others rather than by taking care of her elderly mother when none of her siblings wanted to or when she dropped everything just because I needed my mom and the endless love she gives without asking for recognition. She taught me that love is not just spoken; it’s shown through actions, patience, and perseverance.
Growing up, I didn’t always realize how much she was doing behind the scenes. I didn't see the adversity she overcame just because people in her family hated her for doing something good with her life. I did not see the stress she had just to make sure I could smile. I didn’t understand the prayers she whispered over my life or the battles she fought quietly to protect our family. But as I grow older and start to really see my mother as a person and not just this superhero who was always there for me, I began to understand the depth of a mother’s love, and it amazes me more every year.
My mom is the kind of person who makes people feel safe. She listens when life gets heavy and celebrates even the smallest victories. She has this incredible ability to keep going no matter what life throws at her. Her resilience inspires me daily.
One of the greatest gifts she ever gave me was believing in me before I fully believed in myself. Whether it was my dreams, my education, my creativity, or my future, she always reminded me that I was more capable than I imagined. That encouragement shaped me into the person I am becoming today. This Mother’s Day, I do not just want to say “thank you” for the things she has done. I want to thank her for who she is. For her kindness. For her sacrifices. For her strength. For her unconditional love. Happy Mother’s Day to My Best Friend in the entire world and the women who kind heart made a lasting impact on the way I see the world.
